Mali pilled a resounding performance in Morroco to silence Harambee Star and dent their hopes of playing a world cup match in 2022. Adam Traore opened the goal account just eight minutes into the game exposing Kenya’s defensive unawareness before Ibrahima Kone doubled the heights for the visitors to climb. Without showing any signs to slow down, Mohamed Magassouba’s men piled up more problems when Ibrahim Kone netted a brace minutes before completing his deserved hat trick at the top of the first half.
Harambee Stars looked to catch a breather with phases of having the ball but they showed close to no fight. Mali kept knocking on the door and Moussa Doumbia summed up their epic performance by hammering the last nail on Kenya’s coffin. The performance has sparked outrage from fans questioning the structural arrangement of the federation and whether it is doing enough for the sake of Kenyan football as well as the team selection. FKF president Nick MWendwa appointed Enhin Firat to succeed Jacob Ghost Mulee on a two-month contract.
