The three were on their way to Merti when their vehicle was attacked by bandits said to have come from Laisamis in Marsabit County.

When the vehicle rolled many times before landing in a ditch, two people perished on the scene, while the other two were injured.

Police officers had been dispatched to the area, according to County Commissioner Geoffrey Omoding.

Mr. Omoding said that a manhunt for the bandits is underway, and our police have been dispatched to the area to beef up security.

Using the Losesia-Kom road, motorists and passengers have reported harassment from armed herders from neighboring counties.

The current effort, according to Mr. Omoding, will ferret out the armed herders who have been responsible for the region's escalating insecurity.

He further stated that plans to eject illegal herders are underway.

Meanwhile, Chari ward residents have petitioned the government to remove the armed herders. They said that a large number of people had died and that hundreds of animals had been abducted.

They sought increased protection along the Losesia-Kom road, led by Mr. Giro Boru and Mr. Juma Golicha Guyo, claiming that insecurity had cost more than ten lives in the last two months.

Mr. Boru stated that the administration should address instability in the region.

They chastised local elected officials, accusing them of failing to handle resident murders and livestock theft.
