Data from the county Department of Health Services indicate that so far, 79,837 people have received the AstraZeneca and Modena jabs out of which 36,925 have received both vaccines.

Kenya has administered at least 3,337,913 doses of COVID vaccines so far.

This comes even as Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago has advised Kenyans to go and get vaccinated.

Mandago notes that the Covid-19 vaccine is important and can help in boosting the fight against the pandemic.

He also wants locals who are aged above 50 years to get the vaccine, as they are more vulnerable to succumbing to complications that are caused by contacting the Coronavirus.

“As things are now, it is not the duty of government but your own to take care of yourself. The government has started to ease restrictions so that things go back to normal,” Mandago said.

The county government of Uasin Gishu has already set up a number of areas especially in rural areas in a bid to ensure locals can easily access available vaccines.

Uasin Gishu Deputy Governor Daniel Chemno on his part asked locals not to ignore the ongoing fight against Covi-19.

“We need to be careful with this pandemic. Just recently experts warned that deaths caused by Covid-19 might go up again. Let’s please go for these vaccines and keep on wearing facemasks properly,” Chemno said.
