The speeding train collided with the private automobile early in the morning after the motorist allegedly refused to yield.

The train derailed due to a bent track as a result of the accident, making it difficult to continue on its journey to Nairobi Central Railway Stations.

Commuters along the Mutindwa Market in Umoja and the Pipeline area in Nairobi are frequently picked up by the train travelling the Kasarani route.

Motorists on the Thika Super Highway were inconvenienced after the accident as traffic marshals took time to set up detours.

Motorists are advised to take detours and avoid overlapping, according to the National Police Service (NPS).

Meanwhile, Kenya Railways dispatched experts to repair the track before normal service can resume.

"As a result of the derailment, traffic congestion is expected. In the interim, the public is asked to use alternate routes to prevent disruptions, as Kenya Railways engineers are on their way to remedy the situation so that normal operations may resume, "  according to NPS.

Kenya Railways issued a caution to motorists and pedestrians in 2021, asking them not to cross or move near railway rails when trains are passing.
