A family in Kwale is mourning the death of its identical twins who lost their lives after drowning in the Indian ocean last evening.

The bodies of Solomon Gitundu and Kennedy Gitundu were retrieved this morning several hours after they were last seen. Local divers together with divers from the county government of Kwale helped retrieve the bodies.

The twins in the company of their cousin went swimming along the Gasi shores of the Indian ocean. When the cousin noticed the twins disappearing, he called for help. Since it was late, the rescue efforts had to be called off last evening and resumed this morning.

The three are said to have gone swimming after completing chores on their Father's farm. According to the family, Solomon and Kennedy were awaiting to join University after both of them scoring a C+ in their KCSE.

Locals have been urged to be careful while swimming in this part of the ocean which is said to be experiencing vicious waves.
