The interview was streamed live, simultaneously, in the stations, among the Mediamaxx’s Emo FM, Chamgei, Cong’asis FM, Taach, and national broadcaster owned Kitwek FM.

During the interview, the former Prime Minister addressed a number of issues, key among them the possibility of teaming up with his nemesis Deputy President William Ruto.

The two once worked together in the run-up to the 2007 general elections but later fell out.

Asked on whether there is a chance of their re-union Raila said; “In politics, there are no permanent friends and anything can happen, but for now, there is no chance that we will be on the same side,” noted the ODM leader.

On whether he will be going for the top seat in 2022, Raila, yet again, failed to directly declare that he will be on the ballot.

He said he was still consulting before officially declaring whether he will vie for the presidency or not.

“I have not yet said if I will be a presidential candidate in 2022 or not. For now, I’m still in consultation with a number of stakeholders that will inform my final decision,” he said.

Despite not having declared that he will be seeking to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta once his term comes to an end, many political pundits have already placed him among the two favorites for the seat, alongside the DP who has already hit the ground running in the vote-hunting mission.

The veteran opposition leader further downplayed assumptions that he is the preferred candidate for the outgoing president.

“Are you the preferred candidate for Uhuru Kenyatta in 2022,” Emo FM presenter Joshua Arap Sang asked, with Raila replying that he would not wish to be a candidate preferred by a president whose government is faced with many graft allegations.
