The bus traveling from Nairobi to Kisii is said to have run off the road and crashed into a ditch leading to the accident.

The accident happened around 4 o'clock and passengers managed to escape the crash unharmed and were left trapped at the scene for hours while they waited in the rain for alternate transportation to their destinations.

Passengers involved in the accident were saved with the help of members of the public, drivers, and county emergency management personnel.

Musa Imamai, the police commander for Bomet Central Sub County, confirmed the incident and stated that 32 passengers had minor injuries that were treated and released from the hospital.

The other 8 passengers with more injuries were immediately rushed to Tenwek hospital.

The operation to tow the wrecked bus to the Bomet Police Station caused a traffic jam on the highway as it took about one hour.

Residents have urged the Kenya National Highway Authority (KeNHA) to build bumps there to slow down motorists because the area has previously been the site of accidents.
