Seven Wardens at the Kamiti Maximum Prison in Nairobi have been arrested over the escape of three terror suspects that took place on Monday 15th November.

This comes after Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang`i stated that the prison break was caused by negligence by wardens.

CS Matiang`i who led a senior security Team at Kamiti prison on Monday 15th evening added that a massive manhunt involving specialized teams had been launched across the country to re-arrested the trio of terror suspects.

“We will not only go the direction investigations will point us but we will act resolutely to ensure this kind of recklessness does not happen again because it exposes our people,” Matiang’i said.

Matiang`i also added that those who provide information on the whereabouts of the suspects will be protected by the government.

“We are all mobilized and we have sent messages across the country and all exit and possible movement point out of the country. We are going to conduct a massive manhunt for those three. We have to get them,” Matiang’i said.

“And we are going to get them.”

He, on the other hand, cautioned Kenyans not to be alarmed by the rising number of jailbreaks, saying that security services were on high alert.

Musharraf Abdalla Akhulunga a.k.a. Zarkarawi, Mohammed Ali Abikar, and Joseph Juma Odhiambo are the three convicted.

An Sh 60 million bounty has been placed on their heads.
