Isiolo Killings Over Pasture Disputes

Isiolo county commissioner, Harman Shambi confirmed the incident saying that the attackers also burnt down Dololo Wachu borehole generator before escaping. Police officers are in the quest of pursuing the attackers.

The victims were shot dead by the attackers who also burnt down a borehole generator with the police confirming that the source was a fight over the pasture. During the late-night attack, 2 other people were injured, Shambi attributing the rising cases of insecurity in the area to a lack of police officers.

A contingent of police officers led by Isiolo police commander Joseph Kigen have been deployed in the area to restore calm. Isiolo county leaders have condemned the attack blaming police officers over what they said was the laxity of responding to attacks.

"We've had a challenge, CS Security, Dr. Fred Matiang'i to crack the whip on errant security officials who are suspected to be facilitating the bandit attack," said Rehema Jaldesa, Isiolo Women Representative.

Communities in Isiolo county residing in areas bordering Wajir, Samburu, Garissa, and Meru have for the last 6 months experienced attacks that have led to the loss of lives with the focus now turning to security agencies to find a lasting solution to the perennial fights linked to pasture, water, and land.
