Snake Attends Funeral of Local Medicine Man In Baringo

Just two days after William Ewoi was interred at his home, the huge python emerged and made trips between his house and his grave as though it was paying him last respect. The reptile was so focused that it was not rattled by the noise of the villagers who had shown up at Ewoi's home to witness the startling scene.

The huge python appeared just two days after William Ewoi was interred at his home. It is believed that the python's appearance was a form of appreciation and respect to the snake handler.  William's son, Vincent Ewoi, welcomed the incident saying it was a sign that their late father, who loved snakes, had returned home.

Weighing in on the incident, the family of the 86-year-old snake master said the visit by the reptile was a sign of good luck. His son, Vincent Ewoi, welcomed the incident saying it was a sign that their late father, who loved snakes, had 'returned' home. Vincent said before his father's death, he had said the snake would make an appearance.

Vincent further debunked the common perception that, snake handlers are witches or sorcerous. Instead, he said his father would capture snakes, milk their venom and showcase the reptile to tourists who visited Lake Baringo. The harvested venom would be sold locally and internationally. William had been honoured by the National Museums of Kenya. He was described as a gifted freelance collector of reptiles.
