Aden Duale Considered for Interior Cabinet Secretary

President William Ruto is working around the clock to appoint a Cabinet that will guide the country's economic development agenda for the next five years. Among those expected to appear on the list is his steadfast ally, Garissa Township Member of Parliament Aden Duale.

Due to his loyalty, the outspoken legislator who has been a close ally of President Ruto may be rewarded with the Ministry of Defence or Interior.

Duale was a centerpiece of Ruto's campaigns, and their friendship has grown stronger since the election. Duale was among the few leaders who prayed for Ruto's leadership immediately after the Supreme Court upheld his victory.

Duale also ensured the ceremony's success after Ruto tasked him with welcoming world leaders who graced the Tuesday, September 13 inauguration. Duale, in particular, met and welcomed Somalia's President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud.

 On Wednesday, September 14, the outspoken lawmaker was also among the leaders present at the swearing-in of the six judges at the State House in Nairobi.

Another sign that Duale will join the Cabinet is Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung'wah's bid for the majority leader's seat in the National Assembly. According to sources, Duale was set to take over this position.

Ruto has already stated that his cabinet will include a national representative. Ruto has already stated that his cabinet will have a national perspective with 50% women.

 

Aside from Duale, Amani National Congress (ANC) Party leader Musalia Mudavadi has been promised the position of Chief Cabinet Minister. Mudavadi will be in charge of cabinet business in Ruto's administration.
