According to Kimani, the aircraft developed mechanical problems leading to engine failure. Four survivors had been rescued from the incident.

According to one of the witnesses, the plane was seen flying at a low altitude before making a sharp turn and overturning in the National park.

"I saw the plane flying at a very low altitude and at first, my passenger and I thought that it was conducting a patrol around the park. As it approached the plane made a sharp turn and overturned, crashing on the ground," an eyewitness stated.

Kenya Wildlife Services (KWS) dispatched a team of wardens to rescue the survivors and control the members of the public who attempted to enter the park when the accident occurred. Police officers from the Langata area were also present to control traffic flow following a build-up caused by motorists trying to catch a glimpse of the carnage.

Motorists have also been advised to take alternate routes due to traffic congestion.
