Keter won the nomination in the Deputy President William Ruto-led party after defeating his opponents and clearing the way for him to run.

The lawmaker received 10,273 votes to Kitur Benard Kibor's 7,468 votes in the campaign that had been postponed due to the death of an aspirant in a traffic accident.

After receiving 2,513 votes, Chepkwony Robert Kipkorir came in third, followed by Limo Abraham Kipkoech (540), George Tarus (425), Chemtai Irene (388), and Lelei Lilian Cherotich (160).

On April 7, Wesley Kogo, a UDA candidate for the same seat, died in a car accident in Kangemi, Nairobi.
