Nairobi Governor Jonhson Sakaja stated on Tuesday 27th that visiting all Uhurupark Recreational Facilities Will be Free to all citizens and no one will be required to pay anything.

"This is just the beginning, the county is in the process of rehabilitating all the parks across the county where our people can rest and enjoy the environment,” Sakaja said while flagging off the World Tourism Day at City Hall, Nairobi.

Sakaja continued by saying that his administration is working to restore all social spaces that had been taken and put back to use so that young people can develop their abilities and be creative.

“Some scrupulous people have grabbed some of these social amenities areas, we are reclaiming them, improving them, and will create new ones to ensure every sub-county has at least a recreational facility," he said. 

However, the Central Park recreational facilities will be reopened to the public in December 2022.

The park was closed to the public in February last year by the Nairobi  Metropolitan Services{NMS} spearheaded by Mohammed Badi to pave way for rehabilitation to give them a more modern and robust outlook.
