Anthony Martial celebration cut short as Toffees snatch a point from Red Devils in yet another lacklustre performance
Evertons' Andros Townsend (L) celebrates his equalizer with fellow teammate Demarai Gray.

Manchester United's chance to keep a clean sheet at home erupted into thin air as Andros Townsend equalizer ensured the Toffees a point in a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford.

Having snatched victory in the dying minutes mid-week from Villareal, United were off to a strong start as Anthony Martial met an Aaron Wan-Bissaka cross but only managed to steer it out wide.

United continued piling pressure onto the visitors and  Edinson Cavani made his presence felt forcing a tremendous save off Jordan Pickford to deny the Uruguayan who was bidding for a 4th goal against the Toffees in 4 games.

Everton had managed to keep United at bay but effort was dented before the stroke of half-time when Bruno Fernandes teed up Anthony Martial with a delightful through ball and the French Forward smashed the ball home past Jordan Pickford from close range to give the home team something to smile about. The goal is Martials' maiden of the season so far as well as his first United goal since February in all competitions.

Rafael Benitez was aiming to be the first manager to beat Man United in the top flight with 3 different teams ( Liverpool, Newcastle and currently Everton) but Everton didn't offer much in the offensive department. United matched forward looking for their second equalizer and Everton saw the opening and Abdoulaye Doucurè breezed through and set up Andros Townsend who finished emphatically with his weaker right foot.

Ole seemed to make amends when he introduced Cristiano Ronaldo in a desperate attempt to grant United a second goal but the Portuguese star man failed to leave his mark. He almost made it 2 for United when he larched onto a Jadon Sancho ball but his effort went wide.

Everton thought they'd scooped maximum points when Yerry Mina scored five minutes from time only for VAR to rule it offside. Evertons poor record at the OT continues with a single win in 13 games. Meanwhile United has only recorded a solitary win their last four games as well as conceding at home in nine consecutive matches.
