Rift Valley Regional Commander George Natembeya on Tuesday announced a dusk to dawn curfew for Baragoi town and the whole of Samburu North constituency.

The 6 pm to 6 am curfew is reportedly aimed at hunting down bandits who have continued thwarting peace across the region.

Within the set time, all residents will be required to remain indoors while the General Service Unit (GSU), Anti-Stock Theft Unit, and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) man the region.

Baragoi is among the areas currently under the police watch, owing to their peace instability issues. Samburu county now joins Baringo North, Laikipia, and Turkana East constituencies whose curfew has since been imposed.

The regions came in the spotlight over the increased lack of peace that has resulted in huge property destruction and loss of lives too.

The bandits have not been sparing anyone, even the security officers. In January, Rapid Deployment Unit (RDU) Chief Inspector attached to Kapeda was shot dead with his driver.

Thir murders led to Kapedo being under strict watch coupled with a dusk to dawn curfew as ordered by the Interior Ministry Cabinet Secretary Dr. Fred Matiang'i.
