Barcelona shut down rumors linking Dani Alves with return to Camp Nou

New Barcelona Head Coach is keen to bolster his squad that he inherited from previous coach Ronald Koeman and has allegedly given a list of his ideal players to be purchased with several rumors linking legendary Right Back Dani Alves back to the club. According to Marca the rumors are false and no decision of that magnitude has been made.

The 38-year old Brazilian who is currently without a club following his departure from Sao Paulo in September, has reportedly offered his services to Barcelona but the idea of repurchasing him does not quite sit well with the club as they are currently in a transition phase, looking to usher in a new era with young blood.

The former Blaugrana man is said to have expressed interest in lending a helping hand to his former team during his visit last week, as he watched Barca go down 1-0 to Ukrainian outfit Dynamo Kiev at the Camp Nou. The 6-time La Liga Champion and 3x Champions League winner seeks to help Barca as they are currently in rubbles but was told that the club’s ambition is to bring in new blood brimming with potential.

Reports in Brazil claim that a meeting between the two parties is imminent and that a reunion is dubious. Barca have confirmed that its not an option despite the magnitude of respect held by the club to the veteran.

However, Barca are keen to offer him a non-playing role in future as they consider him to have a potentially large and valuable asset. Alves is considered the best Right Back to ever grace the game (alongside another legendary Right Back and fellow Brazilian Cafu) has played for several big clubs in his career which include Sevilla, Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus.

Bringing back a serial winner might just be what the club needs as Alves will offer much needed guidance to the young lot, most specifically current Right Back Sergino Dest and help the American elevate his game a notch higher. Dest is brimming with talent but we do not expect him to hit Dani heights. However, if he is able to pick a few elements from the master and polish some parts of his game then he is definitely one to look out for in the far future.
