BASIC WHITE LIES WE TELL EVERYDAY

BASIC WHITE LIES WE TELL EVERYDAY

We all have told a white lie to either make ourselves look better or not hurt someone's feelings. It has become such a habit for most of us that the lies come out without us even thinking about it. Here are a few white lies that I’m sure we all recognize.

1.I WILL BE THERE IN FIVE MINUTES

This is the most common lie. Like if you are on your way but you’re actually still at home. Most of us have told this lie just to make yourself not look bad in the eye of someone else. I remember my dad would tell me this when he was supposed to pick me up and show up an hour later.

2.I WAS STUCK IN TRAFFIC

According to  Best Life, 51 percent of workers have told this lie at least once. Sometimes you probably overslept and you ended up waking up really late so just to save face you’d rather tell your boss there was traffic and let’s be honest this is quite an effective lie. Who won’t believe you knowing how busy the streets of Nairobi are?

3.I REMEMBER YOU!

Have you ever been to a family gathering and there’s an aunt who asks you if you remember her and you just agree? Or an old classmate who you just can’t remember? I know I have but it’s because I don’t want them to feel bad. Unfortunately, you can easily be caught in this lie especially if they ask you something about them or something you did together. Worst comes to worst if they ask you their names.

4. MY PHONE DIED

This is the perfect alibi especially when the call was cut during a conversation may be due to a poor signal or your credit balance is at zero or poor battery life. It makes someone feel better when you say your phone died.

5.I CAN’T COME IN TODAY, I’M SICK

According to a Career Builder poll, forty percent of workers have lied about being sick at least once every year even when they are completely healthy.

Don’t make it a habit though because the day your really sick no one will believe you.

These are just a number of common lies that we all say.
