Bavarians dominate Catalonia 3-0 in first leg UCL tie

German powerhouse Bayern Munich gave out a star-studded display as they banged 3 goals past Spanish side Barcelona in the their first leg of the Champions League Group stages fixture late last night.

Bayern Munich were off to a shaky start but took the lead after a Thomas Muller shot got deflected by Spanish defender Eric Garcia and cruised past German shot-stopper Ter Stegen. The goal meant that Muller has now scored 7 goals against the Catalonians in 6 outings, the most by any other player.

Leroy Sane had one of the best chances of the night in the early stages as his thundering volley was saved by Barca shot stopper.

The visitors looked comfortable throughout the game and moments Robert Lewandowski doubled the visitors lead after Musialas shot rebounded off the post and met the Polish poacher lurking in the penalty area. Lewandowski then added Bayerns third after capitalising from a woodwork rebound yet again but this time from another German, Serge Gnabry.

The Polish predator has now scored in 18 consecutive Bayern matches, armassing a total of a whooping 29 goals and is on course to break Gerd Mullers consecutive scoring record.

Barca offered minor threat in a desperate display by the Catalonians but Dutch coach Ronald Koeman will be hoping they bounce back from this defeat and progress past the group stages in a group that also contains Portuguese side Benfica and Ukranian giants Dynamo Kiev.
