The incident occurred at Benedict Secondary School in Machakos.

Students were relocated to nearby learning institutions by education officers and invigilators so that they may continue their exams.

“The swarm of bees raided three classrooms where form 4 students were due to sit for the exam on Thursday morning,” Kathiani education official Veronicah Kalungu said.

Veronica Kalungu, the Kathiani education officer, verified the incident and stated that no students were wounded.

"The pupils were preparing for the Kiswahili Lugha and Insha exams when the bees assaulted them and encamped in the classrooms," Kalungu explained.

After the students had left, police officers stayed behind to assist with the fumigation of the area.

At Sir Newton High School in Eastleigh, Nairobi County, Cabinet Secretary for Education, George Magoha, was busy watching the 2021 KCPE Kiswahili Insha paper.

He gave a brief press conference, noting that mobile phones were a major barrier to the national tests. On the third day of the testing, examination staff seized dozens of cell phones from candidates, he said.

Despite several attempts to contaminate the test process, CS Magoha assured the public that the KCSE exam had not been leaked.
