The 79-year-old thanked voters for picking him over his younger rivals, who he said weren't "mature" enough for the Senate, on his behalf.

“I want to thank Siaya for honouring me with a chance to lead you as your senator. I am over 70 but you have selected me from much younger people. But then, their maturity to represent people in the senate has not yet come,” said Oginga.

On the other hand, Christine Ombaka was also announced  as the Siaya Woman Representative-elect after receiving 207,748 votes.
