Bill And Melinda Gates Divorce After 27 Years Of Marriage

Bill and Melinda tweeted that after a great deal of thought and a lot of work on their relationship they have made the decision to end their marriage. 

They first met in 1980 when Melinda joined Bill`s Microsoft firm. They have been blessed with three children and they jointly run the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

Melinda now 56 joined Microsft as a product manager and in 1987 the two sat together at a business dinner that year in New York where they began dating. Speaking in a Netflix documentary, Bill stated that they cared a lot about each other and there were only two possibilities either they were going to break up or they were going to get married.

They got married in 1994 on the Hawaiian island of Lanai reportedly hiring up all the local helicopters to stop unwanted guests flying over.

The Bill and Melinda`s Foundation has spent billions fighting causes such as infectious diseases and encouraging vaccination in children. According to Forbes, Bill Gates is the fourth wealthiest person in the world and is worth $124 billion. 

Melinda stated that working together at the Foundation had made their relationship better with each of them learning to step up and be an equal. Apart from her work at the foundation, she founded pivotal ventures, an investment company focused on Women and families.
