Jude Bellingham celebrates in front of the crowd after his opener against Besiktas

Borrusia Dortmund marked their 2021\22 UEFA Champions League campaign with a 2-1 victory over Besiktas at the Black Eagles home turf. The win extends Dortmunds unbeaten run in CL Group stage to 6 games which as of now is a record.

Dortmund received an early scare as former Yellow man Michy Batshuayi came close to stretching his goal scoring run in the CL but Dortmund shot stopper Gregor Kobel was all arms on deck and reacted instinctively with a save to tip the ball round the bar.

The breakthrough came in the 20th minute as Jude Bellinghams run into the box was met by Thomas Muniers cross and the English prospect converted the chance into the bottom left hand corner.

Erling Haaland added Borussias' second in stoppage time of the first half as his goal scoring instinct and awareness was put to show, scoring his 15th goal in the last 11 UCL Group stage matches after a creative display from Jude Bellingham.

Besiktas were threatening throughout the match reminding Dortmund of their attacking prowess and they finally got their reward as in the 90+4 min Francisco Montero gave the home fans something to smile about as he slotted a magnificent header from former Juve man and Barca on-loan skipper Miralem Pjanic leaving Kobel in the mud.

Last season Dortmund reached the quarters of the CL and this season nothing less is expected. Besiktas on the other hand face an enormous challenge to qualify from Group C having won only a single game out of their 11 home UCL matches.
