Brentford will be playing in the Premier League for the first time next season after earning promotion with a 2-0 victory over Swansea in the Championship playoff final at the Wembley Stadium.

Thomas Frank’s side made a dream start after Ivan Toney converting a 10th-minute penalty into a goal after Mbeumo had been fouled by goalkeeper Woodman.

Brentford got their second goal 10 minutes later after breaking from their own penalty area before Mads teed up Emiliano for a first-time finish.

Thomas Frank’s side lost out to Fulham at the same stage last season will become the 50th club to play in the Premier League and the first to make their debut since Brighton and Huddersfield did so in 2017/18.

Brentford now joins the Championship winners Norwich City and runners-up Watford as the other promoted sides.

Brentford is now waiting to see which team they will be playing next season for their debut on Wednesday 16 June when the fixtures will be revealed.

The next season will start on 14 August 2021 and reach its conclusion on 22nd May 2022.
