However, this year's Madaraka Day celebrations will be greatly affected.

This is after the interior Principal Secretary Karanja Kibicho stated on May 21st  that the Madaraka day celebrations that will take place in Kisumu at Jomo Kenyatta Stadium will only be attended by 3000 people.

According to PS kibicho, this is due to the increased cases of Covid 19 in the country and most especially in the lake region where the new Indian Covid 19 variant is speedily spreading.

Jomo Kenyatta Stadium can accommodate a capacity of 35000 people.
