Kositany, a first-time MP has been among individuals said to be eying the county’s top seat but until Wednesday, he had not officially joined the race.

In a short video clip shared to members of the press, the vocal MP said he wants to be the person that will take Uasin Gishu to the next level.

“I am aspiring to be the second governor of Uasin Gishu and I ask locals to support my bid,” Kositany said.

“I want to transform the county from where it is and move it to the next level,” he added.

The MP who is a close ally of Deputy President William Ruto outlined enhancing the capacity of farmers to be able to produce better crops as his topmost agenda if elected the county boss in the upcoming general elections.

“We want to encourage our farmers to grow high-yield crops like coffee, avocado, and macadamia. We also want to ensure Uasin Gishu is the largest producer of milk and beef. It is possible, it is doable,” noted the legislator.

He also said he would be available to dialogue with all locals in various sectors across the county from businessmen/women, farmers, bodaboda operators, farmers among others.

Kositany said he would be seeking the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) ticket.

The MP now joins a long list of individuals that have expressed interest in the seat among them Kenyan ambassador to Pakistan Prof. Julius Bitok, Nairobi County CECM Veska Kangogo, billionaire businessman Zedekiah Kiprop Bundotich alias Buzeki, politician Jonathan Bii, and the current Ng’enyilel MCA David Sing’oei.
