COG Declines Recognition of New Wajir County Boss

The Council of Governors has refused to recognize new Wajir county boss Ali Muktar, stating that the impeached Mohamed Mohamud is still in charge despite his removal from office.

According to the Council of Governors {COG}, they cited a directive by the High Court in Meru that Mr. Mohamud remains in office until the case that was filed on his removal is heard and determined.

This comes at a time Mohammed Abdi received a court order on May 18th barring the swearing-in of his deputy Ahmed Muktar

as the new Wajir county Boss.

In a notice issued on Tuesday 18th, the court suspended the swearing-in of Ahmed Mukhtar as the third Wajir County Governor.

"That pending the hearing and determination of this application, the court is pleased to grant a conservatory order restraining the 4th interested party from gazetting the date, time, and place of taking the oath of office..." it read.

However, the governor was "removed from office" by the Senate after they voted to uphold the findings of the plenary Committee.

Among the issues brought forth by the Senate committee included; the debilitated health sector within the county as well as the issue of payment of contractors and county employees.
