Copa America: Messi Says God was saving that Winning Moment for Him
Argentina national team captain Lionel Messi was in football heaven on Saturday night where after so many years he was finally able to lift a trophy for his country.

Argentina won 1-0 against Brazil in the Copa America final and their No.10 felt that providence had been saving this moment for him.
The Barcelona striker will no longer have to bear the cross of having never won a trophy for Argentina with unfair critics aimed in his direction especially when discussing his status as one of the all-time greats of football.
“I wanted to get that thorn out of my side of having won anything with the national team, I’ve been close for a long time and I knew it was going to happen sometime,” said Messi.
“I’m grateful to God for giving me this moment against Brazil in the final and in their country; I think He was saving this moment for me.”
Messi was overjoyed not for what the trophy meant to his career after so many years, but also what it meant for Argentina to win their first title since 1993.
