Court Orders Nairobi Lady to Pay Ksh. 23, 750 After Eating Ksh.3,000 Fare

In a post shared on Former Nairobi governor, Mike Sonko's Facebook account, a Nairobi lady has allegedly been ordered by the Milimani small claims court to pay her boyfriend Kshs 23,750 after he sent her Kshs 3,000 to pay for a taxi to attend the man’s birthday party but the lady did not show up and instead switched off her phone.

Court Orders Nairobi Lady to Pay Ksh. 23, 750 After Eating Ksh.3,000 Fare

According to the post, the man went to small claims court and filed the suit, along with evidence such as his M-pesa statement and WhatsApp chats between him and the lady before and after sending the money, after the lady ignored his messages and turned off her phone.

The lady was ordered to refund the man Kshs 3,000 plus Kshs 750 in interest and a further Kshs 20,000 in damages for his emotional anguish.

As the lady cried and cursed the magistrate for the harsh punishment, the boyfriend was overjoyed. It forced the police to remove her from the courtroom after she attempted to cause havoc.

Mike Sonko went on to say that if the court had taken such an initiative in the past, he could have avoided situations like sending fares to ladies and them not showing up.

"Hii ingekuwa zamani ningeweka ndani over 5000...," Mike Sonko stated.

Many men have also come forward to thank the court that issued the order as they have been victims of such incidents. Here are a few screengrabs.
