The Corona pandemic created major adverse effects spanning across the political, social, and economic domains. The virus upended many enterprises and saw significant mortality rates worldwide over, especially in countries that were most affected. A considerable attempt was made by researchers and scientists to mitigate the spread of the virus, and their efforts bore the COVID-19 vaccine. Amid much controversy and conspiracy, most countries have adopted this measure and are actively administering the vaccine to their populous. However, some countries have proven the most effective in disseminating the vaccine.

Vaccines throughout history have proved effective in halting the spread of diseases and even eradicated a few, such as Rubella, Influenza, and Pertussis or Whooping Cough, thus saving millions each year. Vaccines work by aiding the immune system to enhance its natural defenses to recognize and fight off the bacteria and viruses they target. The COVID-19 vaccine is no different and is a good preventive measure against the virus. The World Health Organization evaluated and approved several vaccines which, met the efficacy and safety criteria. Among these include; Moderna, Sinopharm, Pfizer, AstraZeneca, and Sinovac.

Contemporary data reveals that over five billion vaccines have been administered, yet owing to the Delta variant which is highly infectious, the virus still ravages some countries. As of August 29, 2021, Singapore has successfully vaccinated 80 percent of its population. China stands at 63.5 full vaccination after administering more than two billion doses spanning 72 percent of the population. At present and still ongoing the United Kingdom has administered more than 90 million COVID-19 vaccines bringing the percentage to over 63 percent. The United States given its large population has made considerable steps towards vaccination and has administered more than 350 million doses, fully vaccinating about 52 percent of its citizens. India has successfully vaccinated 50 percent of its citizens. To cap, Japan has covered 44 percent of the population, having administered 124 million Corona vaccine doses.
