In a new directive by Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe, on Friday, curfew in the counties will now begin at 10 pm from 7 pm and end at 4 am like the rest of the country.

"The hours of the ongoing national curfew to continue across the country from 10 pm to 4 am across the country. This applies now to the counties in the lake region as well," Kagwe said.

In the month of June, the government revised curfew hours for  13 counties in the Western region from 10 pm to 7 pm.

The counties are; Busia, Vihiga, Kisii, Nyamira, Kakamega, Kericho, Bomet, Bungoma, Trans Nzoia, Kisumu, Siaya, Homa Bay, and Migori.

In the new Covid-19 containment guidelines issued, all public gatherings including political rallies are suspended, as well as intergovernmental meetings.

The Health CS called on employers (private and public) to allow their employees to work from home until a new directive is given by the government.

"Unless they’re working in critical or essential areas," he said.

The government further directed all teachers to be vaccinated after learning resumed across the country for all institutions for the first time since the pandemic began.

Kagwe said all places of worship should adhere to the one-third directive given earlier and also ensure social distancing is maintained.

The CS also directed that burials should be conducted with 72 hours to reduce the number of times people meet and burials should be attended by 50 people.
