Leeds defender, Pascal Strujk will serve his punishment after they lost an appeal for the red card the defender received during the weekend’s clash with Liverpool. Strujk was dismissed following a challenge on Harvey Elliot in an attempt to recover the ball at Elland Road on Sunday.  However, Elliot responded with a classy gesture via his Instagram calling the decision ‘wrong’.

The teenage midfielder, Harvey Elliot was seen on the floor with a dislocated ankle in the 60th minute after what looked like a normal tackle from Pascal in a fast build-up to catch Leeds on the break after they were dispossessed in Liverpool’s box. Harvey's teammate, Mohamed Salah was quick to react following the incident as he alerted the medical staff for an immediate response.

The incident sent shock waves across the entire stadium but more visibly on Liverpool's bench and players on the pitch who had a clear view of what transpired. Liverpool saw off Leads with a comfortable 3-0 win,  thanks to goals from Mo Salah,  Fabinho, and Sadio Mane but that was overshadowed by the unfortunate scenes of young Elliot Harvey in pain.

The medical team lead by the head physio Chris Morgan made successful efforts to put back the ankle into place before stretching Elliot off the pitch and straight into the hospital for further checkups. However, the post-match reaction from manager Jurgen Klopp and teammate Virgil Van Dirk only confirmed how serious the injury looked and he is set for a longer period on the sidelines.

"It is a bad injury, we will play football without him but we will be there for him as well because it's obvious he's top player, " Klopp said. He added, " I saw the situation and then I could immediately see the effect because I could see his foot(not in the right place) that is why we were all shocked,  absolutely"

Virgil Van Dirk who missed the major part of last season due to injury had his say in the post-match presser,  "From the moment it happened, you saw Mohamed Salah shouting to the side. You look at the reaction of Harvey and you know it is really serious. We will see the outcome, then pray and hope the best for him."

"I have experience with all the staff, players, and fans that they have your back and I am 100% sure we will be there for him. Our club Liverpool will be there for him no matter what, " Reassured the Dutch captain.

Leed's manager Marcelo Bielsa also expressed his regrets to the Red's youngster and joined the entire football world in wishing Elliot a speedy and safe recovery.

"I wish it did not happen, for that to happen to any player is saddening. For a young player, playing at a high level, even more. I am sure my player did not have the intention to harm him in any way"

The 18-year-old

who joined Liverpool in the summer of 2019 from Fulham,  has been in fine form since then and he has featured in every Liverpool game this season took to his Instagram to appreciate the support and love he is receiving across the globe. Elliot became the youngest ever player to start a match for the club when he made his debut on 25th September 2019 in an EFL game against Milton Keynes Dons at the age of 16 years and 174 days. He is considered as one of the most promising talents in the Premier league
