The Directorate of Criminal Investigation [DCI] officers from Bungoma are probing the death of an employee who was stationed at the Deputy County Commissioner's office.

The woman aged 39 was found dead in her house, in what cops suspect to be a murder. The deceased's corpse was recovered on Sunday [yesterday] evening after officers broke into her house.

They found the woman naked and lying in a pool of blood. There were also signs of the late having been strangled, as well as sustaining knee injuries.

Her family became suspicious of her safety after they could not reach her through the phone. They then informed police officers who then arrived and found the door locked from outside which forced them to break in.

The corpse has been to the morgue for preservation awaiting a postmortem to reveal more about the demise. A month ago, another woman was reportedly gang-raped and sodomized in Ruiru, and her private parts mutilated with a sharp object.

The perpetrators then left the woman for dead, but she was luckily rescued the morning after by wellwishers who rushed her to the hospital.
