Johnson Sakaja, a Nairobi gubernatorial candidate, has had a difficult week as he fights to clear his name following allegations that he forged his degree certificate.

Four petitioners have asked the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to bar Sakaja from running in the August elections due to an alleged lack of education.

Sakaja claims to have earned a Bachelor of Science in Management degree from Team University in Uganda, despite previously claiming to have graduated with a degree in Actuarial Science from the University of Nairobi.

As the IEBC tribunal continues to hear the case, there have been several twists and turns regarding the authenticity of Sakaja's papers.

The University of Nairobi confirmed earlier this week confirmed that Sakaja was yet to complete his studies.

According to UoN communications director John Orindi, the Senator was admitted to the university in 2003 on a module two program but was yet to graduate.

“It is true Sakaja was admitted to the university and was pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Actuarial Science, studied from first year up to fourth year, but is yet to graduate," he stated.

In line with this, former Nairobi Governor, Mike Sonko also came out to reveal that he also graduated through photos that he shared on his social media account.

Sonko also revealed that he will soon graduate with a Ph.D.

According to sources, Sonko successfully graduated with a degree in Business Administration from Kenya Methodist University (KEMU).

ODM leader's son, Raila Odinga junior was also not left out as he also shared a throwback of his graduation photo. Sharing his photo, on his social media account, he was also seen posing with his family members.

"Behind every photo, there’s a story, I was so ready to remove that Gown and go party but my mother insisted on this old tradition of taking a photo with my family as proof that I graduated. Who knew it would be so relevant," he stated.

Nairobi gubernatorial candidate Polycarp Igathe also shared his graduation photos recently on his social media platforms to prove that he once graduated in 1995 from the University of Nairobi.
