DP Ruto Speaks after Kiambaa UDA Victory
Deputy President Dr.William Ruto has praised the residents of Kiambaa Constituency and Muguga Ward for conducting a peaceful highly competitive by-election.

The second in command termed the competition between Jubilee Party and United Democratic Alliance (UDA) as a friendly match, the DP said the Muguga and Kiambaa residents completed what Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) was advocating for.
"The people of Kiambaa and Muguga have shown us that it is possible to vote peacefully and go back to work without changing the constitution. It is the loser to accept the defeat and that is the end of an election process," DP Ruto told mourners in Mathioya, Murang'a County.
According to DP Ruto, those who have been engaging in violence after the election, have a lesson to learn from the Kiambaa and Muguga by-elections.
"We don't need to change the Constitution to have a peaceful election," he said.
John Njuguna Wanjiku, the flag bearer of UDA clinched the Kiambaa seat by 21,773 votes trouncing Jubilee’s Kariri Njama who garnered 21,263 votes.
A total of eight candidates participated in the election among them Evans Wainaina of the People’s Party of Kenya, Kamau Willie Mbugua an independent candidate, and Muchugi Isaac Karomo of the Federal Party of Kenya.
Others were Munyinyi David Mugo an independent candidate, Muthaka Lucy Wanjiru of PNU, and Richard Njoroge of The New Democrats.
In Muguga Ward, Joseph Githinji of the Jubilee Party narrowly won with 4,089 votes against his closest rival, Peter Kamau of UDA who garnered 4,062 votes - a difference of only 27 votes.
