Durban Boy Allegedly Dies After ‘Copying’ TikTok Video

The Police in Durban, South Africa are currently investigating a case in which a 12-year-old boy allegedly died after copying the TikTok video after he had lit a fire on a bowl full of sanitizer.

According to KZN police spokesperson, Colonel Thembeka Mbele in South Africa, it is alleged that on Monday, June 7 at around 5.30 pm, a 12-year-old boy filled a sanitizer liquid into a bowl and lit it up with matches further bursting into flames which burnt him.

The boy was later rushed to the hospital after he sustained serious burnt wounds. He however succumbed to the wounds on Wednesday, June 9th.
Information-making trends on social media indicate the boy was practicing what he watched on TikTok video, a Chinese video-sharing social networking.

His death comes at a time social media has become a major effect on children`s lives with others being frauded on the internet.
