Hassan is willing to unseat the current Mandera County Governor Captain Ali Ibrahim Roba as he will be pursuing Mandera County’s governor seat at the August-slated General Elections.

“I intend to seek an elective position as Governor of Mandera County in the 2022 General Elections. I hereby tender my resignation as Chief Administrative Secretary with effect from 8°' February 2022,” the CAS said in a letter to Head of Public Service Joseph Kinyua.

CAS Omar now joins his fellow counterparts CAS Patrick Ntutu, Petroleum and Mining CAS Engineer John Mosonik, Wildlife Principal Secretary Fred Segor, and Tourism CAS Joseph Boinnet who also opted to join politics.

The CASs joined United Democratic Alliance Party {UDA} hours after resigning from President Uhuru`s Cabinet.

They were received by Deputy President William Ruto at his office in Karen, Nairobi on Tuesday, February 8
