Following a tip from the public, six of them were apprehended while traveling in a black Toyota Fielder suspected of transporting the suspects.

After the public reported two suspicious males in the area where the event occurred, the driver and co-driver who managed to flee were apprehended.

Laikipia County Criminal Investigations Officer (CCIO) Onesmus Towet confirmed the incident, saying that the eight have been taken into jail and are awaiting translators so that investigations can begin.

The suspects will be detained at Nanyuki police station for further investigation, according to Towet, who believes they are Ethiopians.

Residents in Laikipia and Meru counties have been informed that security has been tightened up across the two counties, and the police chief has asked the people to submit information on any suspicious activity in the area.

The suspects will stay in police custody until their investigations are completed, at which point they will be arraigned in Nanyuki Law courts.
