While speaking in Nairobi today, the Former Nairobi County Governor said the party made the wrong decision to award Wanga a direct ticket without consultations or going to the primaries as they had anticipated. The decision by the party compelled some of the candidates to explore other options for the ballot.

“I will vie for the seat as an independent candidate. I indicated earlier that I was going to use other means to the ballot because of the decision that ODM has made. I will contest as an independent candidate to secure the interests of  Homa Bay County residents,” said Kidero.

The Orange Democratic Party, in a presser last week, announced that Gladys Wanga was their flag bearer in the contest, a decision that did not go well with many political heavyweights in Homabay and doubted the existence of democracy in the party.

John Mbadi is too bottled out of the race, and this, according to Kidero, is the decision that denies aspirants the right to free and fair nominations and questions the existence of party structures that guide free and fair nominations.
