As the interviews to succeed Chief justice Maraga proceed today, 12th April 2021 at the supreme court building, Justice Chitembwe stated that his greatest weakness is that he’s too generous when it comes to sentencing. He stated that he has sentenced only two people to death even though the law allowed death sentences when he was a judge at Malindi.

According to Chitembwe, we are all human and even the worst Criminal can be transformed. He went on to state that whenever he appears in court those in prison are filled with joy because they think they would get a moderate sentence from him.
