FIFA Threatens to Ban Kenya from Activities However Demands Meeting First

In a statement on Thursday, Chief Member Associations Officer Kenny Jean-Marie said CS Amina Mohamed’s decision was against FIFA rules.

“We kindly ask you to inform the Cabinet Secretary that in the event her decision to appoint an FKF Caretaker Committee and the correlated secretariat was to be upheld, we would have no other choice than to submit the present matter to the Bureau of FIFA Council for consideration and decision,” Marie said.

FIFA said it was willing to hold a meeting with FKF and the Ministry of Sports to address any concerns.

Amina disbanded the Football Kenya Federation and appointed a caretaker committee that would run the affairs of the federation for six months.

The committee will be chaired by retired judge Aaron Ringera.

The FKF disbandment came shortly after the CS received an audit report from Sports Registrar, Rose Wasike.

Other members of the committee include General (Rtd) Moses Oyugi, Fatma Adan, Philip Musyimi Mue, Anthony L. Isayi, Elisha Chepchieng Kiplagat, Hassan Mahmoud Haji, Fredrick Tureisa Lekesike and Mwangi Muthee, Neddy Atieno,  J.J Masiga, Bobby Ogola, Richard Omwela, Titus Kasuve, Ali Amour.

The CS also appointed a secretariat that will be headed by  Linda Oguttu, who will be assisted by Michael Mucheni (secretary), Lorine Nerea Shitubi (Joint Secretary), Caesar Handa, Habo Mwachiro, Edward Rombo, Hiba Hussein, and Gabriel Warigi.

Other members of the secretariat will be Dr. Walter Ongeti, Rashid Khamisi Ali Shedu, Hon. Rachael Kamweru and Robin Toskin.

Football Kenya Federation President Nick Mwendwa rubbished the committee appointed and vowed to fight any attempts to eject his five-year-old administration from office.

Mwendwa insisted he still remains the bonafide president of the local football governing body.
