Tusker FC thrashed Vihiga United 4-0 on Sunday afternoon at the Mumias Complex to climb to the of the log.

Thanks to goals from Henry Meja, Kevin Okoth, Chrispinus Onyango and Rodgers Aloro that helped them get three important point to total them to 38 points, two ahead of KCB and AFC Leopards who have 36 points each in second and third positions respectively.

The win for coach Robert Matano’s side ended their winless streak since the resumption of sports in early May.

They got their first goal in the fifth minute through Henry Meja’s volley. He again nearly put his team ahead in the 7th minute but his header went over the bar.

In the 22nd minute, the strong Tusker were about to go 2-0 infront but Vihiga’s goalkeeper Mustapha Oduor stopped Boniface Muchiri from messing with them.

The Brewer’s added their second goal in the 38th minute after Vihaga failed to clear a strike from a set piece with the ball finding Okoth, who scored by volleying the ball at the back of the net.

The second half began with the hosts overwhelming the visitors and nearly salvaged themselves two minutes into the period but Lawrence Luvanda’s shot was saved by Tusker’s keeper Michael Wanjala.

Striker Onyango gave Matano’s boys a third goal in the 50th minute when he controlled the ball with his right foot and volleyed it from 40 yard distance.

Muchiri’s strike hit the crossbar after an hour mark denying the Brewers their fourth goal.

Finally they extended their lead in the last minutes of the game when Aloro scored a penalty kick.

In the other match of the day, AFC Leopards title run was halted when Bidco United surprised them with a 3-1 defeat at the Ruaraka Grounds.

United got their goals through Alex Juma, Peter Nzuki and David Orem in the first and second period of the game to climb to position 11 with 22 points after 17 matches.

Leopards got their only goal later in the second half through Bienvenue Shaka.

In the 7th minute, Juma slotted passed goalie Benjamin Ochan to give Bidco their first goal after midfielder Fabrice Mugheni’s back pass mistake.

Just as four minutes remained for the first half whistle, Nzuki nicely curled a foul past Leopards players to go 2-0 at half time.

In the second half, Orem scored the third goal for Bidco in the 68th minute making things tougher for Ingwe, who were now down 3-0.

However, substitute Shaka rounded United’s goalkeeper Omar Adisa in the 81 minute to score Leopards consoling goal.
