According to details from a source privy to bright Kenya news, Mbae was allegedly involved in drug trafficking, violent robbery, and murder.

He had several court cases including a case on 5th May 2014  when he was charged with murder after a businessman was found slain at his home in Embu's Shauri estate. He was charged with four other people.

They argued that they were simply arrested for selling unlawful wine before Justice Florence Muchemi and that they were not charged with anything else. In court, the case is still pending.

"I agree with the prosecution that the evidence to support the charges need not be included in the particulars of the offense," ruled Justice Muchemi on the illegal liquor business.

In 2018, he was arrested and accused of trafficking Ksh260,000 worth of bhang. Detectives working the case claimed they had been following him for more than three months. He was linked to a narcotics trafficking group that operated in neighboring countries.

He was released on Ksh300,000 bail after denying the charges. In court, the case is still pending.

One of his pals, a top official with the Directorate of Criminal Investigation unit, was kidnapped and eventually found dead in January of this year. Mbae is said to have been protected by the cops while conducting his dirty businesses.

The Business turned politician was shot dead as he entered his home in Bonanza estate on Wednesday night. His killers sprayed him with multiple bullets where he was later pronounced dead at the Embu Level Five Hospital at about 11 p.m.

"It is true the trader was heading home when he was fatally attacked by people whose vehicle had no registration numbers. We have commenced investigations with a view of establishing the truth of the matter," Embu West Sub County police boss, Julius Kyumbule, stated.

It is believed that maybe there could have been a business that went sour between the deceased and his killers.

However, his demise was received with different reactions with other mourners bitter about his death but others celebrating.
