Gareth Southgate to announce England's Euro 2020 squad on Tuesday.

The 50 years old coach will name his squad prior to the set deadline of 1st June for the submission of squad list by the competing nations.

England will play Croatia, Scotland and the Czech Republic in Group D. The three Lions will have home advantage since all its group stage games will be staged at Wembley stadium. If they proceed all the way to the final, they will also get a chance to play at their own ground at semi finals and final stages of the tournament.

In preparation for the competition, England will play friendly matches against Romania and Austria at Riverside stadium in Middlesbrough early next month.

Southgate is expected to name 26 players in squad following the new rule set by UEFA. It is not clear whether he will name the full required number or just additional three players to be on standby.

In the interview in March, Southgate was sceptical about the prospect of expanded squads.

“I am not certain I’m behind that. Covid could play a part but there is a skill to picking 23 and it means you’ve got to make good decisions and important decisions,” he said.

“Some of that can be lost as you get an extended group, so let’s see how that develops but I’m not 100 per cent for that, I have to say.”

The Euro 2020 which will be the 16th edition, will begin on 11 June and ends on 11 July, 2021. It will be hosted in eleven cities where 24 teams will participate.
