If I ask you, how many times you've rushed to the counter and buy a pain killer because of headache? How long with you take to answer?

Well, this has been a common problem  in the day in, day out through our various works and at times it gets worse. But before it got to worse, the following are some of the things that can help you to avoid taking in any more drugs for headache;

1. Drink plenty of water

Dehydration is one cause of headaches to develop. Luckily, drinking water has been shown to relieve headache symptoms in most dehydrated individuals within 30 minutes to 3 hours. The worst effect of being dehydrated is that it lowers concentration and causes irritability making the symptoms seem even worse. Drink enough water to avoid this.

2. Magnesium

Evidence suggested magnesium deficiency is more common in people who get frequent migraines headaches compared to those who don't.

However, taking magnesium supplements can cause digestive side effects like diarrhea in some people, so it's best to start with a smaller dose when treating headaches symptoms using magnesium.

3. Limit alcohol intake

Research shows that alcohol can trigger migraines in about one-third of those Who Experience frequent headaches. It shows also alcohol course tension and cluster headache in many people. Since alcohol is known to be a vasodilator, vasodilation may cause headaches in some people. Alcohol also acts as a diuretic causing the body to lose fluids and electrolytes through frequent urination.

4. Soothing pain with cold compression. 

A cold compression to the neck or head area decreases inflammation, slows nerve conduction, and constricts blood vessels of which help in reducing headache pain. To make a cold compress- fill a waterproof bag with ice and wrap it in a soft towel. Apply the compress to the back of the neck, head, or temples for headache relief.

5. Try out yoga.

It helps in reducing the intensity and frequency of your headache. A study done on effects of yoga therapy on 60 people with chronic migraine headache frequency and intensity were more in those receiving both yoga therapy and convectional care compared to those receiving conventional care alone.
