The win moves Gor Mahia to the third place on the log with 37 points, 5 points behind the league leaders KCB with one game in hand thanks to 75th goal from substitute Ulimwengu.

It took the homeside 23 minutes to settle with both sides playing safe and as predicted, Gor were first to taste the waters in the 31st minute with but Lawrence Juma squandered the opportunity.

Sofapaka had an immediate response just before half time but goalkeeper Gad Mathews had it all covered from Achesa's superb shot to end the half level.

Gor Mahia began the second half on high note and was almost paid off on the 57th minute when Karim set-off Wendo with a good lay-off but saw his powerful shot parried away by the batoto ba mungu goalie.

Coach Pinto's tactical substitution on the 59th minute on Andrew Juma for Ulimwengu was all that was required to change the game. The substitute didn't have to wait longer before he shook the net on the 75th minute from a 'delicious' pass by starman Kenneth Muguna to give the homeside the lead and close their gap for the league title.

Elsewhere, Tusker bounced back from the previous lose to  Postal Rangers with a narrow 1-0 against Kariobangi Sharks to keep their title hopes alive thanks to the 63rd strike by Chris Onyango at Utalii complex

The Breweries remain second on the log only separated by one point from the league leaders KCB.
