The Government, through spokesperson Cyrus Oguna, on Monday, September 27 cleared up on the recent viral video of mass Asians landing at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.

The elucidation by Oguna was based on the speculation that the country has been taking in asylum seekers from Afghans fleeing the Taliban. 

While shedding light on the hypothesis, the government through  Cyrus mentioned that the new visitors were international tourists, with legal documents signifying they are in the country for the holiday.

The explanation of the government heeds much uproar on the social media platform after a video  of Asians landing in the country went viral

: as a result, many netizens were left enquiring about their mission.

From the viral video, Many of them were seen picked by the City Hoppa and City Shuttle buses, which take them to different destinations in Nairobi and Machakos counties.

From the video, netizens postulated that the Asians were on transit to Saudi Arabia, and had been put on quarantine in Kenyan facilities, basing on the fact that Saudi Arabia has put Asian countries on the red list, and they have to go through a country that is exempted.

Oguna also added that Kenya was not among the countries requested by the United States to host Afghans.

He, however, indicated the country would accept the proposal upon request.
