Gov't Directs All Vehicle and Motorcycle Dealers to Undergo New NTSA Licensing Process

Interior Cabinet Secretary (CS) Dr. Fred Matiang'i orders motor vehicles and towing services dealers to undertake new licensing procedures by April 1, 2022.

Gov't Directs All Vehicle and Motorcycle Dealers to Undergo New NTSA Licensing Process

According to a statement made on Friday 28th by CS Matiang’i, dealers have to undertake new licensing by April 1, 2022. He also stated that all X- number plates will stand nullified.

“Dealers who qualify will be issued with digital licensing cards. Existing licenses will stand revoked at the expiry of the period,” remarked Dr. Matiang’i. 

The directive suggestions of an Inter-Agency Team comprised of representatives drawn from the Transport and Security sectors which was previously established to revalidate vehicle/motorcycle dealers, manufacturers, repairers of motor vehicles and tow truck owners.
“The Inter-Agency Team has recommended a digital register of all motor vehicle dealerships in the country and the replacement of the red Kenya Garage (KG) plates with KC (Container Freight Stations), and KT (Kenya Towing) and green KG plates,” stated the CS.

The government has directed all container Freight Stations dealing in motor vehicles and towing services providers to surrender red KG plates and replace them with digital green KC and KT plates respectively by April 1st, 2022.
