Grade Two Boy Hit To Death By A Speeding Motorcycle

According to eyewitnesses, the eight-year-old was hit by a Boda Boda rider as he crossed a road to school.

The young boy died on the spot from the injuries he sustained from the accident.

According to the residents, the cyclist was speeding when he ran over the child who was heading to a nearby school.

"The rider was driving carelessly before he caused the death of the innocent boy," one resident said.

Locals pleaded with the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) to construct safety bumps on the often crowded road to prevent such fatal accidents.

"We don't have bumps on this road and the road agency should erect them so that our children are safe," said Peter Mureithi, another resident.

The accident resulted in a traffic jam on the Kagio-Kutus route. Traffic police rushed to the scene and sent the body to the morgue at Murang'a Referral Hospital.

The motorcycle rider escaped the scene and the police were looking for him to question him.

According to Wilson Koskei, commander of the Mwea West sub-county police, the rider committed a major traffic offense and would be prosecuted.

"He will be charged with causing death by careless driving if seized," he said.
