GSU Officer Arrested For Killing Gym Instructor

A General Service Unit (GSU) officer belonging to the Recce Squad has been arrested in Mombasa for allegedly killing a gym instructor.

In a report by People Daily, Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) officers based in Kisauni sub-county tracked down Kirimi Gikangu to his hideout at Kaeleo area in Meru County.

Police reports indicate that the suspect is believed to have murdered Allan Gicharu at Mondana area in Kisauni sub-county on Tuesday, February 2, following a love affair between the instructor and the officer’s wife.

Gikangu, who is currently attached in Boni Forest, had gone into hiding following the murder, alongside his wife, who is yet to be arrested.

Police investigations further revealed that the suspect had invited the deceased into his house for a party. They shared a few beers to the point the instructor was too intoxicated to leave his house.

“The suspect asked him to sleep on the couch, and as he slept, he hit him with a metal rod and later stabbed him several times leaving him to bleed to death,” read part of the report.

Reports further indicate that the suspect is being ferried to Mombasa from Meru to face murder charges.

Earlier on, Stephen Kithuka Kilindi, a retired Kenya Air Force officer slashed his wife, 35-year-old Elizabeth Ndanu Kimeu, to death with a panga after a domestic row erupted between them in Mbooni East Sub-county on Tuesday, March 16.

Makueni County Police Commander Joseph Ole Naipeyan told Kenya News Agency (KNA) on phone that the woman had suffered deep cuts on her neck, legs, and arms.

“The suspect who is in police custody reported the heinous act to the police at 11 am. At the time, the exchange of words worsened and the suspect took a panga and slashed the woman severally leaving her for dead,” revealed Ole Naipeyan.
